Preamble
Inside Out is the official Journal for the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
1. Membership of the Editorial Board
1.1 The Editorial Board shall be made up of a minimum of 5 people the majority of whom must be members of IAHIP.
1.2 The Editorial Board shall decide whether more than 5 members are required on the Board at any given time and may invite volunteers to apply to join the Board as and when needed.
1.3 A new appointment to the Board is recommended by the current Editorial Board with reference to a list of eligibility criteria which is available on the IAHIP website. Each member of the Board must be ratified by the Governing Body.
1.4 The Chairperson of the Editorial Board shall be appointed by the Governing Body.
1.5 The Editorial Board shall elect from among its members:
a. a Business Secretary, and
b. a Minutes Secretary
2. Term of Office of Members of the Editorial Board
2.1 Appointments to the Editorial Board shall be for a period of five years. Members may be reappointed for a further consecutive period of five years.
3. Meetings of the Board
3.1 The Board will meet as and when required as determined by the Chairperson of the Board or as instructed by the Governing Body.
3.2 Minutes will be taken at all meetings by the Minutes Secretary of the Board with such minutes being kept and available on the IAHIP server.
3.3 A majority of the members appointed to the Board shall constitute a quorum for meetings of the Board unless determined otherwise by the Governing Body and communicated to the Chairperson of the Committee.
3.4 Other operational procedures of the Board shall be determined from time to time by the Governing Body in consultation with the Board.
4. Functions of the Board
4.1 The Editorial Board of the Inside Out Journal is responsible for the production of three issues per year, or as many as the Editorial Board of the time shall decide (subject to budgetary provisions and prior approval of the Governing Body).
5. Duties of the Board
5.1 The Editorial Board shall operate within a set budget as agreed by the Governing Body of the time.
5.2 In carrying out its work, the Board shall operate within the terms of the Association’s Constitution and Policies, and of the Association’s Codes of Ethics and Practice.
5.3 The Board shall not publish any article that may be defamatory, misleading or bring the Association into disrepute.
6. Rights of the Committee
6.1 The Editorial Board has autonomy in all publication decisions. In the event of a request being made to the Editorial Board to withdraw or alter a contribution to the journal, the request must be given full consideration by the Editorial Board in order to reach a fair, ethically-grounded and legally sound decision. The Editorial Board’s decision regarding publication or alteration is final.
7. Reporting Requirements
7.1 The Editorial Board must report on its activities to the Governing Body at least three times per year.
7.2 The Editorial Board shall report on its activities to the Annual General Meeting or, if requested to do so by the Governing Body or by a quarter of the accredited membership, to an Extraordinary General Meeting.
8. Miscellaneous
8.1 This Bye Law should be reviewed by the Editorial Board and the Governing Body at least every 3 years.
